Lifelong Learning
The RTPI exists to advance the science and art of planning for the benefit of the public. This is achieved by setting expectations of competence and professionalism for planning professionals and supporting these through education and lifelong learning
The RTPI takes a broad view of lifelong learning, as referring to the different learning opportunities throughout an individual’s lifetime and career which improve their understanding of, engagement with or practice of spatial planning.
The RTPI vision and aims for lifelong learning are set out in the Lifelong Learning Strategy
Continuing Professional Development
All members of the RTPI (apart from retired members) make a commitment to maintain and develop their expertise through Continuing Professional Development.
Learning for newcomers to planning
This section contains resources for newcomers to planning including materials for schools, members of the public, councillors and anyone else who is interested in planning to learn more about planning.
Qualifications
The RTPI accredits a wide range of high quality planning degrees. Whether you want to begin studying planning as an undergraduate or as a postgraduate there is something for you.
Learning Partners
The RTPI recognises best practice learning and development in employers of planners through the RTPI Learning Partner status.
