Current Planning Research at the University of Reading
The School of Real Estate and Planning focuses on four research themes: Environment, Sustainability and Community Participation; Planning Policy; Real Estate Investment and Finance and Valuation, Leasing and Market Practice.
Under the Environment, Sustainability and Community Participation research theme, projects look at issues such as the role of community strategies in planning at the local level, the implications of the new planning system, community-led planning and parish planning within West Berkshire.
As part of the Planning Policy research theme, projects focus on topics such as regional planning and policy integration in the UK, building size hierarchies and planning regulation.
Real Estate Investment and Finance research considers topic areas including pricing theory, property risk and liquidity.
Valuation, Leasing and Market Practice studies issues of depreciation in determining rental values, behavioural aspects of valuation and the impacts of town centre shopping malls on land-use patterns.
