Current Planning Research at the University of Liverpool

Since 2002, the Department of Civic Design has generated approximately £2 million for research projects. Research is divided into two research themes: Spatial Planning and Environmental Assessment and Socio-economic Policy Evaluation and Geo-demographics in Spatial Planning.

The first theme relates to the ESRC's 'Environment and Human Behaviour' research area which aims to improve tools and techniques for conducting environmental impact assessments. Current work involves Improving Education in Environmental Assessment and Management. The project is trying to find ways to enhance the attractiveness of post-graduate education in European environmental assessment and management.

The second theme is related to the ESRC's 'Social Stability and Exclusion' research field. Research has looked at the motivations behind the migration of workers, social inclusion and the reduction of inequalities in Warwickshire.
