Current Planning Research at the University of Dundee

Current research activity in the Department of Town and Regional Planning focuses on Housing and Homelessness, Community Planning, Environmental Governance and Conservation Practice.

The Joint Centre for Scottish Housing Research (JCSHR) was established in 1990 as a joint initiative between the University of St Andrews' Geography Department and Town and Regional Planning at the University of Dundee. The Centre promotes cross-disciplinary research on the Scottish housing market and looks at issues such as the role of housing associations, housing affordability and homelessness.

The MPHASIS project is concerned with improving the monitoring of homelessness information and housing exclusion in a number of European countries. Researchers in the Department have been monitoring and evaluating the work of the Dundee Community Planning Partnership which looks at deprivation in Dundee.

The Geddes Institute for Urban Research brings together the departments of Architecture, Geography and Town and Regional Planning and provides a forum for urban research.
