Current Planning Research at the University of Birmingham
Research at the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (CURS) is divided into two research groups: Planning, Housing and Communities and Economic Development.
The Planning, Housing and Communities Research Group studies themes such as sustainable communities, social inclusion and regeneration. Current projects include:
Investigating Governance, Management and Accountability of Housing Associations
The project studies the recent merger between Affinity Homes and William Sutton Housing Association.
Leadership of Place
The project focuses on the design, development and evaluation of a Leadership of Place programme and enhance leadership skills with the aim of creating successful places in a changing policy environment.
The Economic Development Research Group focuses its research on issues such as the role of knowledge networks around organisations in promoting economic change and the impact of economic and labour market changes on urban regions. Current projects include:
Competitiveness of European Metropolitan Regions (ACRE)
The project aims to analyse the impact of creative industries on the competitiveness of EU metropolitan regions. The study is being led by the University of Amsterdam in collaboration with 13 European research centres.
