Current Planning Research at London South Bank University

Research within the Department of Urban, Environment and Leisure Studies is co-ordinated by the Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR). The Department focuses on key urban, environmental and leisure themes such as the Swiss Tropical Institute's urban health research programme, the World Health Organisation's Collaborating Centre on Urban Health, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and the International Real Estate Research Symposium.

The Local Economy Policy Unit (LEPU) was founded in 1983 and aims to promote local economic development. A recent research project focused on a London/New York Dialogue examined factors affecting the continuing world city status of the cities. More information can be found on LEPU's research website.
