Current Planning Research at Leeds Metropolitan University
The School of the Built Environment employs around 11 members of staff in the Planning, Housing and Human Geography group and research is primarily carried out by the Centre for Urban Development and Environmental Management (CUDEM).
CUDEM provides a dynamic interdisciplinary environment engaged in high quality academic inquiry and policy-related research. CUDEM was formed in 1989 with its origin in planning courses first run in Leeds seventy years ago. In recent years the knowledge base has diversified into an integrated set of courses and research programmes around spatial planning, governance, sustainability and urban and regional regeneration.
