Current Planning Research at Cardiff University

The School of City and Regional Planning's goal is to contribute to international research and debate concerning development, management and sustainability of cities and regions. Research within the School is divided into five groups: Environment, Housing, Spatial Analysis, Spatial Planning and City Environments and Urban and Regional Governance.

The Environment Research Group is working on projects such as The Role of the Housing System in Rural Wales which studies the relationship between the economy, society and housing.

The Housing Research Group is concerned with sustainability, social inclusion and governance and planning.

The Spatial Planning and City Environments Research Group (SPACE) looks at themes such as improving design quality in the built environment, the effectiveness of planning policies and planning education.

The Urban and Regional Governance Research Group is concerned with economic change and its impact on places, society and relationship with policy and planning.
