Nathan Makwana: Bursary profile

What is the Future Planners Bursary

The Future Planners Bursary was launched in 2015 to increase the pipeline of planners graduating, and subsequently working, in the UK and Ireland.

The Future Planners Bursary is a very useful scheme. I think if it can be continued it would certainly help others who wish to learn about Planning. The bursary appears on my CV and demonstrates my commitment to the Planning Profession

How does it work

Universities with accredited postgraduate planning programmes offered up to two bursaries to award to high quality applicants who met the eligibility criteria.

Who was awarded a bursary

Nathan Makwana was awarded the Bursary from the University of Sheffield to study MA in Town and Regional Planning.

Nathan MakwanaWhy did you choose to study planning

Nathan had worked previously and decided to change career. He was attracted to planning by the opportunity to interpret policy and make real life decisions that would have an impact on a local community that he could see happen. He is interested in both the public and private sector and feels that one of the most useful skills he has gained during his course is policy interpretation which will be useful in his future career.

What will you be doing after graduation

After graduation Nathan has secured a planning officer role working for a Local Authority.
