Victoria Bankes Price has now stepped down from her young planners role.  Ed Morgan and Sarah Allsop will be taking joint responsibility for RTPI Young Planners in the East Midlands. We would like to thank Victoria for her good work she has been undertaking for young planners in the region over the past few years.

The region has formed two sub-groups, north and south, in order to make events more accessible to the whole region; however the two groups will still be working closely together. Ed Morgan, a Planning Officer at Oadby and Wigston, is taking the helm in the south of the region and Sarah Allsop, a Planning Assistant at JHWalter in Lincoln, is taking the lead in the north of the region.

About us

East Midlands Young Planners first met in Leicester in February 2008. We are very flexible and open to new ideas so that we can create a group that meets the needs of young planners in the region.

Events

East Midlands Young Planners North
Morgan Tucker are kindly hosting a free young planners CPD evening on Thursday 10th November at their offices in Newark (65 Northgate, Newark, Nottinghamshire, NG24 1HD). Adam Partington, from the City of Lincoln Council will be providing a presentation on the Lincoln Townscape Assessment, which is coming to an end at the end of the year.

Adam is the Townscape Character Projects Manager, managing and delivering several partnership projects concerned with managing the inherited character and local distinctiveness of Lincoln. The Lincoln Townscape Assessment (LTA) is a key place-shaping tool in Lincoln, used by developers and development managers alike to help future change take advantage of the city's distinctive character. Bringing together principles of urbanism, ecology and archaeology, the LTA defined and characterised 108 individual places, known as Character Areas, which cumulatively cover the whole of the authority area. The information, available at www.heritageconnectlincoln.com ,is now an established evidence-base used in Lincoln's place-shaping approach. The presentation will discuss the results of its use in three key areas of place-shaping, Spatial planning, design and development, and neighbourhood planning, documented as part of the LTA implementation Project.

Registration will be from 6pm, with the presentation starting at 6.30pm. There will be drinks and snacks available after the presentation and a wii tournament for those who wish to take part!

Morgan Tucker is well situated for access from Newark Northgate and Castle Stations, or the A1/A46 with ample parking available. For more information please visit Morgan Tucker's website at www.morgantucker.co.uk or visit their facebook page.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Please contact sarahallsop@jhwalter.co.uk if you have any questions or if you would like to attend. Carrying on with Victoria's tradition there will be a bottle of wine for the person who travels the furthest. - read flier for more details (PDF 103kb)
