Scottish housing policy has changed dramatically recently, sustainable design is high on the agenda and policies such as SPP 6 have upped the ante for house builders. In addition the policies on Placemaking and Design have been reinforced through SPP20 and Designing Places.
John Gilbert Architects and Anderson Bell + Christie Architects invite you to join them for an evening exploring the current policy and best practice in low carbon, people friendly housing design, explore the how current and future policy could be implemented and to debate the future of suburban Housing Design in Scotland.
In particular we will cover current initiatives such as SPP6, Ecohomes accreditation through a range of case studies and examples.
Places are limited to 20 and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The event is free, but booking is essential - please use the form below. Tea and cake will be provided.

Three speakers will present the following issues:
John Gilbert, Principal John Gilbert Architects
- Will chair the meeting and will open the debate on the future of Sustainable Suburban Housing.
Karen Anderson, Partner at Anderson Bell + Christie Architects
- Will discuss sustainability through placemaking, illustrated through some recent work of Anderson Bell + Christie Architects.
Matt Bridgestock, Architect / Planner with John Gilbert Architects
- Will examine the tools for creating housing design, SPP6, SAP, Ecohomes and ZeroCarbon with examples and best practice.
