LibDem Conference 2012

The RTPI at the 2012 LibDem Conference

*Kindly sponsored by Savills and Local Dialogue, the RTPI ran an invitation-only breakfast and a public fringe at the LibDem Conference in Brighton.

The invitation-only policy breakfast was held under the Chatham House rule.

Keynote speakers for the lunchtime included (pictured right) new DCLG Minister, the Rt Hon Don Foster MP, Stephen Gilbert MP the new PPS to Ed Davey MP, and Councillor Keith House, Leader of Eastleigh Council and lead for the LibDems on planning in the Local Government Association.

Can planning help deliver the jobs and growth we need?

  • A podcast of the event is available here.

The packed audience - a mixture of LibDem delegates, planning councillors and RTPI members, took the opportunity to question the panel on planning issues.

Debating "Can planning help deliver the jobs and growth we need?", the panel of political speakers was joined by Professor Gavin Parker from the RTPI, and chaired by Mark Brown of Local Dialogue.

Positive feedback for the event

Stephen Gilbert MP tweeted about the fringe later that day:
