RTPI Ireland welcomes new Planning Minister

15 June 2017

RTPI Ireland has welcomed the appointment of Eoghan Murphy as the new Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government.

John Downey, RTPI Ireland Chair, said:

"Ireland is still in the throes of a housing crisis. A well-resourced planning system is key to supporting the drive for well designed, affordable and sustainable homes. We are keen to build on the foundations established in the Rebuilding Ireland strategy and the National Planning Framework through working with the new Minister to demonstrate the positive role planning can play in delivery."

RTPI Ireland is writing to the new Minister to seek a meeting to discuss how planners can help to deliver the ambitions set out in Rebuilding Ireland.
