England's Great Places was competition designed by the RTPI to celebrate some of our most attractive and inspiring places and the role planners have played in helping to protect or shape them for England's communities.
Liverpool Waterfront was crowned the overall winner from 10 finalists with the competition receiving over 11,000 votes from the public in total. England’s Great Places followed Scotland’s Best Places in 2014 of which Dundee Waterfront was named the winner and was followed by Wales Best Places with the Aberaeron coming first.
The RTPI will be launching its Northern Ireland Best Places competition later this month.
Commenting what this award meant for the Institute, Rebecca Hildreth, Head of Marketing and Communications, said:
“This is a truly fantastic achievement for the RTPI. Receiving wide press coverage and public engagement on a small budget was a challenge and we are delighted to have been selected. The competition celebrates and highlights the important role that planners play in helping to shape and enhance the places that we love. Being awarded Best PR campaign is a wonderful recognition of this.”
The RTPI was also shortlisted for Best Association Conference (up to 450 Delegates) for the 2016 Young Planners Conference, and Best Association Magazine or Newsletter (over 18,500 circulation) for The Planner. See all the Association Awards 2017 finalists here.
