“David Lammy’s report is a valuable and well-informed contribution to the discussion about how we meet London’s housing need. 70 years on from Abercrombie’s plan for London, we again face a situation that calls for decisive and sustained leadership and above all a visionary plan to address the pressing needs of the Capital.
We welcome the clear understanding of the link between transport spending and housing growth, which we called for in our recent paper Transport Infrastructure Investment. We also welcome his timely interest in the land outside the current built up boundary and London’s relationship with the rest of the South East given the issue is being looked at by the examination of the London Plan Alterations. A satisfactory method of handling this issue which both meets democratic principles and transport investment practicalities is essential.”
