Planning minister addresses packed PIPA conference

28 October 2013

Nick Boles at PIPA 2013Planning Minister Nick Boles MP provided the keynote speech at the RTPI’s packed Politicians in Planning Association (PIPA) annual conference, the free network for councillors involved in planning.

Held in Milton Keynes, the theme of the conference was 'Planning that meets the needs of current and future generations' and offered both plenary and break-out sessions, including an afternoon stream especially helpful for Councillors new to planning.

The location was particularly relevant. From its establishment in 1967, Milton Keynes was planned as by far the largest and most ambitious of the British new towns; indeed the objective has been to build a new city. The development was deliberately located between London, Birmingham, Leicester, Oxford and Cambridge - and hence it offered a very accessible Conference venue.

The PIPA conference 2013 was generously supported by the Planning Advisory Service.
