RTPI Scotland welcomes Town Centre Action Plan

07 November 2013

AlistairAlistair MacDonald, RTPI Scotland's Convenor, welcomed the publication of the Scottish Government's Town Centre Action plan :

“RTPI Scotland welcomes the publication of the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Action Plan and the appointment of a Minister with specific responsibility for town centres. These provide a great opportunity to ensure that planning, community planning and local government work together to support town centres.

The Minister appreciates the key role of planners and the planning system in supporting town centres and so we are keen to work with him to deliver the actions set out within the Action Plan and identify pilot projects.

At a local level, planners have an important role in reviving our town centres. They will be critical to making the town centre first policy work effectively, to deliver the pilot projects and to lead change through Town Centre Action Plans.”
