Iram Mohammed, Chair of the Scottish Young
Planners' Network and Vice Chair of the Membership and Ethics
Committee, has been named the inaugural Scottish Asian Woman of the
Future at the Scottish Asian Women Association (SAWA) awards.
The SAWA was launched in April last year by First Minister Alex
Salmond and is supported by HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of
Jordan. It aims to establish and develop a network of Scottish
Asian Woman from all professions, fields and disciplines drawing
upon a wealth of leadership skills, innovation and knowledge with a
view to enhancing their own personal and professional development
and assisting those women in need of support, guidance and
mentoring.
Iram said: "It was a real privilege to be nominated along with
some really inspiring women and to win is such an honour. To be
given the opportunity to represent the town planning profession and
help promote the work of planners is brilliant. I hope it inspires
other young Asian women to join this vibrant and changing
profession."
"The awards are a fantastic showcase of the phenomenally
talented Asian women in Scotland today, and I encourage you to get
involved in this year's campaign," says Sitara Kausar, Trustee of
The Scottish Asian Women's Association.
