RTPI Young Planners Conference 2012: Planning: Striking a Balance. Friday 26th – Saturday 27th October 2012.

RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AD

This year's national RTPI Young Planners Conference is being hosted by RTPI London Young Planners. In what is a hugely exciting year for London, this conference explores the central challenge facing planners – striking a balance between diverse and competing interests – in the context of recent changes to the planning system and the continuing difficult economic climate. It will be held at RIBA's headquarters in central London, close to Oxford Circus and Regents Park. The conference is kindly supported by a number of sponsors including our headline sponsors Drivers Jonas Deloitte, Waterman Group and WYG.

Greg Clark at conventionSpeakers include The Rt Hon Greg Clark MP (Minister for Decentralisation and Cities) (pictured left), Steve Shaw (Olympic Delivery Authority), Sir Edward Lister (Deputy Mayor of London), Liz Peace (BPF), Kate Henderson (TCPA), Peter Murray (NLA), and RTPI Chief Executive Trudi Elliot CBE. In addition Colin Haylock, RTPI President; Nikola Miller, Young Planner of the Year; and Professor Matthew Carmona, UCL will deliver Petcha Kutcha style presentations on the delivery of good urban design.

The Young Planners conference is an excellent CPD opportunity in a relaxed and professional setting. It will enhance key skills and knowledge which attendees can apply in their workplaces or on their course. The Conference will be suitable for planners with up to 10 years experience across all sectors, as well as those from other relevant built environment disciplines, from all the UK nations and regions. The event will enable all planners to come together and discuss and debate the issues of the day.
