CALA Homes wins RDD case

10 November 2010

CALA Homes won their High Court challenge over the abolition of the Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS), it was announced today (10 November). The court found that the Secretary of State had acted unlawfully when he scrapped the Regional Spatial Strategies.

Matt Thomson, Head of Policy at the RTPI said: \"We will need to look at the judgement carefully before being able to say definitively what the implications are. We look forward with interest what the legal remedy is. Whatever the implications of this case are, what we need is a sound system of strategic planning. The RTPI is working closely with the government to try to achieve this.\"

The RTPI stated in July the need for transitional arrangements to be in place if the RSS were to be abolished.
