Projects and councils from across the West Midlands are celebrating following the announcement of the Royal Town Planning Institute's West Midlands regional awards on Friday 23rd July at a ceremony attended by over 170 attendees at the stunning venue of Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
The awards ceremony was held to celebrate planning excellence in the West Midlands region, with Birmingham based planning consultancy GVA Grimley kindly making the evening possible.
President of the RTPI Ann Skippers presented the following awards:
Ann Skippers, RTPI President said:
\"It's fantastic to see so many great projects and professional planners celebrated through the RTPI West Midlands Awards.
This year's award winners, including projects such as the Birmingham New Street Gateway, show that even in these tough economic times the region's forward looking councils are working together with local business and other partners to drive forward regeneration.
I congratulate the 2010 award winners on their achievements and am very pleased to recognise the extensive work that has been undertaken to create great places in the West Midlands where people are proud to live and work.\"
Stephen Hill, RTPI West Midlands Chair said:
'We were extremely pleased with the high quality of the nominations for our newly expanded Regional Awards and it's fantastic to be able to showcase the good planning work that goes on within the Region.
We are very grateful to our sponsors for supporting the initiative and the ceremony itself proved to be a huge success and a fitting venue in which to celebrate the positive aspects of planning across the West Midlands.'
