National Policy Statements better than Planning Act Consultation of April 20

21 April 2009

The RTPI has responded to the Planning Act (2008) consultation on the list of statutory consultees for National Policy Statements. The deadline for responses was Monday, April 20.

This DCLG consultation document was seeking views on who should be statutory consultees before designating a document as a National Policy Statement (NPS).

The RTPI said: \"We welcome the DCLG setting out the bodies proposed to be consulted with in the National Policy Statements.

\"The list needs to be flexible to respond to different types of National Policy Statements, changing needs, and local circumstances.

\"Overall we support the National Policy Statement Framework and associated measures currently being prepared through the DCLG and the IPC. We hope it helps ensure that required infrastructure is identified and developed in a timely manner.\"
